Co-production involves the recipients of a service working in partnership with service-providers to design the very best services. Everyone who takes part in co-production shares power and makes decisions as equal partners.
We often hear that co-production is the best way forward when it comes to mental health service design and improvement. That’s because it brings together the perspectives of those with lived experience, family members and carers, clinicians, service managers and commissioners.
Our Government and mental health charities have made a commitment to co-production as the key means of developing and designing mental health services in Jersey; this is a great opportunity for those directly affected by services to shape the future.
The Co-production framework will be a huge step forward in putting the voice of lived experience and families and carers at the heart of mental health service design and improvement. This will be a framework for change.
